Queensland Raceway Short Track Series | Round 3 | Part 1

Well here it is finally guys; photos from the third and final round of the Queensland Raceway Short Track Series. All I can say is WHAT A SERIES! I’m very impressed at how this event was run, the quality of cars and driving on display and also the crowd population. The series easily rates high up as one of my all-time favorite events I have ever seen at Queensland Raceway, and trust me there has been plenty!

You want results? I got them!

ROUND PODIUM:

1st Place – Rob Whyte in the Monster 350z

2nd Place – Flynn Dowling in his rather fabulous Onevia

3rd Place – Kris Klutke who was doing some amazing stuff all night in his S13

EVENT PODIUM:

1st Place – Nick Coulson who has absolutely obliterated the competition and shown that not all drift cars need to be Japanese in his VE ute.

2nd Place – Barry Clark in his black S13

3rd – Todd Waldon (we all know him at TJ) in his white S13

Right, onward to photos!

The more and more I go to watch this track the desire to scrape together some dollars to hit it up ASAP surges over me. I cannot WAIT to take my chances with that wall and potentially ruin my latest bog work on my car.

One of the biggest crowd pleasers all night was 2nd place winner Flynn Dowling in his Onevia. This thing is everything an S13 should be.

Easily the favorite driver for me on the night and I’m sure for many others, was Buckna in his newly painted R33.

The style of this thing is just amazing. I loved spotting Nightmare Before Christmas characters on the back on the car!

Lolly pops, tigers, kittens and ducks. What a combination! Didn’t make round 1 or 2? This is what it looked like during those rounds.

It doesn’t just look pretty either. My god this thing pours out some smoke.

It was also convenient half way through the night that Buckna cared so little about the car that he helped push broken down drivers back to the pits.

One of the most impressive in attendance for all three rounds has been this man; Mereki Dawson. This dude has well and truly proven himself as a driver this year. Coming from someone who runs the exact same motor setup as him, I know much you have to throw these cars around. Well done Mereki!

Together along with Tayno Ayo, Danny Thompson and Morgan Dowling, these four dudes put on an amazing show!

Some of the best group drifting I have seen in all of Queensland has been from these four guys across all three rounds.

You just have to look at how clean the cars are to realise the skill these guys have. It amazes me that round after round they come away with little to no damage.

I highly suspect that Mereki would still be a badass driver even if the Corolla wasn’t held together by rust (NICEVIBE <3).

Tomorrow I will be bringing you guys more photos from the battles and the entry comp, so sit tight!
