Gold Coast Exhibition Center Bike Show

Whether it has two wheels or four, maybe even only 3 sometimes, it will pretty much have my interest. So when I heard about the Gold Coasts largest motorcycle exhibition, I was off to get amongst it. Held at the Gold Coast Exhibition Center, patrons were able to stroll through the displays from all the large manufacturers as well as stalls by local build shops and other third party groups selling things from riding leathers to jet skis.

Ducati had a large presence this year with a massive center showroom styled display, with models such as the 848 and Monster as well as this year’s trail tourers represented on the floor, allowing potential buyers to really pick and choose.

Big Bear Choppers brought in a wild selection of custom built rides. This wild outlaw runs a 124″ S&S with dual air intakes and some extra garnish to set it off. With a spectacular airbrush paint job, there’s not an inch of this bike that doesn’t catch your eye.

I stopped to have a chat with Kal Daley from OSET Bikes about these crazy little things. Designed with the kiddies in mind, they boast a powerful electric motor that allows up 6 hours of riding on a single charge, and more than enough torque to launch your little ones over any old crates or logs that you might have laying around.

Serco Motorcycles had their twin turbo Harley Davidson V-Rod out for the show. When I first looked it over from the left, I made a comment that it looked pretty cool. One of the guys said it was twice as cool on the other side. Just love the screamer, because if there’s one thing you need to do, it’s make your Harley louder. Serco also offer other exhaust product like the ever popular Yoshimura slip on as well as whole line of internal gear for your rocket.

The Hell Team had set up camp with a grown up version of Kals toys for the big kids in all of us. They made the trip up from NSW to promote the sport of Trial Riding, putting on a display for everyone outside the Exhibition Center. Importers and suppliers of the Gas Gas, Scorpa and Mecatecno Trials Motorcycles, Trials Bikes and many trials accessories and trial parts from around the globe. They also represent Inspired and Zoo Trials cycles.

KTM were another store with a large presence, showcasing their range of dirt bikes as well as some off road buggies like the 900cc Razor

Representing Suzuki was Australian Superbike rider Ben Attard, who has been riding a bike since age 4, also happens to be a trade certified cabinet maker. Always have a backup plan kids.

FiiK Skateboards. Just look at it! You know you want one. These babies come in two different models for each board. A standard lead battery powered model, and the longer lasting Lithium Polymer variety. Offering feature such as no-pedal wireless control of the motor, ABS brakes ( I know, right ), safety LED lights and a heap of extra features, these bad boys are in a league of their own. The model that our friend here has his hoof on is the Big Daddy Street Surfer, and at $1650.00, it’s probably going to have to go on the wish list for X-mas. Tell your Mrs.

I saw something about Clear Armour, but never actually found the stall.

I spent the remainder of my time wandering to and from the center looking at other bikes and trikes. Tucked away a corner I found this gem. Scooter or not, I’d ride it.

We’ve all seen these around. Oz Trikes have got to make one of the nicest looking examples on the roads.

Any of the bikes on the floors were open to test fitted to make sure that your dream bike wasn’t going to be too big or small for you, allowing to keep the dream alive, or alternately crushing it in front of a group of strangers.

Champions Ride Days were on board offering up discounted track sessions as on the day specials.

Aprilia. Probably one of the nicest models of bikes on the market

Mark, founder of Shark Leathers had a massive range of rider protection gear at great value prices.

This may not be the world fastest Indian, but I’m pretty sure it’s got to be the coolest.

On a whole, the Gold Coast Motorcycle Exhibition was a bonanza of treats for any style of rider, so if you thought about going this year but changed your mind, make up for it next year and get along.
