This past weekend I attended round four of the Stadium Drift Australia series, held at Carnell Raceway in Stanthorpe. The event was full of epic battles, tones of close calls and plenty of paint trading, all of which we’ve come to expect from the boys who compete in this series.
In the land far far away (For us Queenslanders), we have this town called Goulburn, and at this time of the year it has special powers to make our thermometers read in the negatives and wind strong enough to make the clouds look like a time lapse video.
But that has never stopped a drift competition before and it it never will.
We all love fast cars and sexy babes so here’s some photos I took earlier in April just before the cold weather started creeping up Mercury motorsport had a Dyno day, sausage sizzle and Bikini car wash.
Time for another Stadium drift Round! This time at my personal favorite track to shoot; Carnell Raceway (better known as Stanthorpe).
For us photographers, sometimes taking photos of the sport we love just is not enough. Much like our contributor Josh Dobrik, more often then not we can’t wait to get out there and give it a go ourselves. Josh took took it to the Pan recently to learn to drift in his own Mazda MX-5. The skidpan being one of the best places to learn the art form that is drifting; No Police, no traffic and best of all no tire usage!
If you have missed the first round of stadium drift at Queensland raceway I will fill you in with this post. What most people will remember that day is that it was darn hot that day but they did have grins at the end of the day even if they were peeling like a snake and were red as a tomato.
It was 18/3/2012 4:30PM Sunday, as I have arrived to the mysterious location in Advancetown which looked like in the middle of nowhere with no inhabitants. Just a few empty streets and 2 houses in the process of being build; a perfect place for everyone’s sliders to come out and play as well as have a bit of a get together.
I thought I’d remind every viewer on how much fun everyone had on October the 7,8,9th as well as getting hyped up and days after (for some weeks) talking about how much fun they had at our favorite track in Queensland: The Queensland raceway of course.
This week we have a new contributor on board. I’m sure many of you guys will have seen Misko around at our local tracks in South-East Queensland. If not, it’s time to look out for him because this man can take some damn good photos!
This week we will be recapping on the 2011 Matsuri where Misko will be displaying some stunning shots from the weekend. For now, check out his Tumblr to see some of his work!
