Queensland Raceway Short Track Series | Round 1

Round 1 of the Queensland Raceway Short Track series took off just this Friday night with some awesome displays of driving. Stupidly low and loud cars trying to narrowly scrape between a wall and a traffic cone, while sideways and in third gear; how can you not win?

QR Short Track Round 1 | Meercat

The Queensland Raceway Short Track Series took off last night, and one of the outstanding drivers of the night had to be Mereki keeping it real in his GZE ke70.

Because Ke70.

Some of the best footage I have seen yet from the Queensland Raceway short track. My god it just makes me want to go drift RIGHT NOW!

Lady in Red

On Sunday, while attending the afternoon sprints, I was treated with seeing Morgan’s BN kitted Zenki as well as a few other very nice cars. They were doing a practice day before the short track comp, which I cannot attend, so I took the opportunity to go photograph them. Obviously with running on a track like this, you run into some dangers. The day ended with a bang, between Mereki in his blue ke70 and Morgan, which is repairable, and hopefully fixed before the comp where they will be running 5 car trains when there is down time. Besides the accidents, the day was filled with lots of action, however my battery only lasted 45 minutes, but I made the best of the time I had. Eventually I will have a post covering the short track action and a small feature on Morgan’s Silvia.

Circuit Club Wakefield Park Sydney

Waking up at 3am is never fun. But waking up at 3am to rain, lightning and thunder for a first time track day at Wakefield Park in Goulburn must have been a daunting experience! Luckily I was photographing it.

Stadium Drift Round 1

If you have missed the first round of stadium drift at Queensland raceway I will fill you in with this post. What most people will remember that day is that it was darn hot that day but they did have grins at the end of the day even if they were peeling like a snake and were red as a tomato.

Stadium Drift Round 1 at Queensland Raceway

Round one of Stadium Drift, held at Queensland Raceway, had to be one of the hottest days I’ve experienced out at Willowbank, and I’m sure many others would agree. However, this didn’t stop the show with a great amount of cars up for both the show and shine and general spectating. On the way there, stopping at a petrol station, the fuel pumped stuffed up for while, but not for long, as I headed back out on the way following Daniel Batchelor and his friends, who he seemed to be the only one not in a rush. The car kind of shut down on Champions Way again, so sorry to anyone we held up.

Streetkarnage & Excitement Slider Session

It was 18/3/2012 4:30PM Sunday, as I have arrived to the mysterious location in Advancetown which looked like in the middle of nowhere with no inhabitants. Just a few empty streets and 2 houses in the process of being build; a perfect place for everyone’s sliders to come out and play as well as have a bit of a get together.

Weekend Drifts at Archerfield

This weekend was pretty busy for me. First working on my Excel track car before visiting a workshop for a while on Saturday, and then after finding out about the drifting at Archerfield I decided to go out to watch. This weekend I had a different camera though; a borrowed Nikon D3100 which I had good fun playing with. Lots of awesome shots came out from using it at Archie, even though I was restricted to the 18-55 so mostly I was up right next to the track. I met Brett (iBrettowski), a fellow drift photographer who spent a lot of the day talking to Chez (Watts) and I. The track was overflowing with cars as over 50 drivers had entered, which meant other potential entrants had to miss out. This overflow of cars, however, made for some exciting action. Due to the event not being a competition day there was continuous drifting throughout the event with lots of opportunities to shoot cars as they came by. There were quite a few Aussie cars entered too and since it was only the start of the drifting experience for some, this gave good track time for them to learn.

Queensland Raceway Friday Night Session

Last Friday night Queensland Raceway opened the track back to the public to its newly refurbished track. As eager as any drifter heading out for the night, I brought out the camera to snap the action.

Chez Watts | Porsche Track Day

Chez Watts has just sent me though these amazing photos of a Porsche track day that was recently held at a rather saturated Queensland Raceway. It’s not often I manage to get out to any sort of track day like this, so I was ecstatic to hear he had this content.

THE EXCITEMENT! CAR MAGAZINE | 2012 Street Meet

First of all, thank you to everyone that turned up for our first Excitement! Car Magazine Street Meet! I was very happy with the turn out, and despite the events on the day I hope you guys are looking forward to the next one. As I’m sure most of you know, or can gather, the weather was less than perfect on the day. Terrible in fact. Not to mention a certain Woolworths manager that put in their best efforts to ensure we felt most unwelcome. All things aside, I was very proud with how the meet went and am now scheming how we can do things better next time.

Downshift x JDM x Euro OPEN MEET at Queensland Raceway

I have to admit I had my questions when I first heard this month’s JDMST meet was going to be held at Queensland Raceway. The more you think about it, however the more sense it makes; a Private property in an area that won’t be affected by the noise, as well as being a place that 90% of people in the car scene know how to get to. Which was a good thing too; because the meet had to the largest JDMST meet I have ever seen!

Wreck ‘Em Premiere!

What an awesome way to spend a night; drinking with 200 of some of the closest people you know while watching the best of the years drifting on every screen at Irish Murphy’s in the Brisbane CBD. As always, this year’s Wreck ‘Em premiere was exactly that; awesome! Of course, I couldn’t resist bringing the camera up to capture the night and introduce you to many of the people we all know.

Lots and lots of photos coming soon. Some scary ones too… People got loose.

Practicing in the Afternoon Sun | Archerfield

When you turn up to a typical afternoon practice at Archerfield, you don’t always expect the A Team of drift cars to turn up. Not to say that happened for this particular event, but I certainly had my expectations of the event exceeded.

Archerfield

Being very close to the end of the year there has not been a huge amount of events that I have been able to attend. With that in mind I have been digging out some old content that I have shot over the last few years to show you guys. Today I thought I would share with you some shots I took a while back at one of the many late afternoon Archerfield events. Archerfield is a very small track situated in Brisbane that has basically been converted from a go kart track and used for drifting for the last few years. Despite its small size it has always been an awesome little track for some cheap fun.
