PM Lubricants Round One

Nizpro and Archerfields first official drift comp kicked off recently with the first round of the PM Lubricants 6 Round Series. Now you may have realised that I have a bit of a soft spot for Archerfield and attend quite a few events here, and that’s because I love getting close to the action. Which is also handy because I use short lenses to shoot anyway.

Step Out in Style – Luke Knight

One of the first guys I met when I started heading to drift meets was Luke Knight. I had a bit of a chat with him that first night and then ran into him again out at QR in the following weeks and it’s safe to say that you can find him at a track somewhere tearing up tires at any given opportunity.

I’ll Let It Slide – Sez Rogers

In the short time that I have been going to Archerfield for drifting I’ve seen some pretty talented drivers getting around the tight track that was originally intended for go karts. Sarah “Sez” Rogers is one that stands out from the crowd with skills that exceed quite a few of her male peers. In her bright pink S13 Silvia, Sez is carving her way up the field and putting her foot down on the comments that women can’t drive. Maybe she has trouble parallel parking or getting it straight at a shopping center, but ones things for sure, she’ll whip you’re ass when it comes to taking corners. Sez took some time out from a session to have a chat to me about her aggressive style.

Classic Japanese Meet – Banyo

There has always been something about the older Japanese cars. Like anything made before the 90′s, there is just that little extra in the quality of craftsmanship that went into the design of the cars. Sure some of them may not have been the most aerodynamic, but they just look cool. And we’re all OK with that. The Banyo Classic Japanese Meet is a yearly event that is growing with each pass. It’s free to bring your car in and it’s free to come and look. There’s a sausage sizzle available with cold drinks and all proceeds going to the Earnshaw College where the meet is staged.

Gold Coast Exhibition Center Bike Show

Whether it has two wheels or four, maybe even only 3 sometimes, it will pretty much have my interest. So when I heard about the Gold Coasts largest motorcycle exhibition, I was off to get amongst it. Held at the Gold Coast Exhibition Center, patrons were able to stroll through the displays from all the large manufacturers as well as stalls by local build shops and other third party groups selling things from riding leathers to jet skis.

The Downshift x JDMST & GYMKHANA MEET

Downshift have done it again to bring Brisbane its largest JDM and Euro meet, attracting 500+ cars out to Queensland Raceway for an afternoon of mingling and ogling the multitude of Japanese and Euro cars on display. So as to not to be caught out with lack of space and light like last time, the event was held earlier, in the large QR car park and on the weekend, making it easier for a larger amount of people to attend.

The FORGED Audi was an absolute show stopper. I had to get a bit pushy and clear the area so that I could get a shot without some mug walking up to it and getting his head in the way.

New Contributor | Chez Watts

Over the past couple of weeks we have seen some very impressive content coming from local Brisbane photographer, Chez Watts. With his moody style of photography, we have been seeing a side of car meets that we have not seen before. Chez will be bringing you lots of cool events as he gets to them; but for now look forward to his feature on the Downshift x JDM x Euro OPEN MEET & GYMKHANA in the next few days.
